Casting Call bloghop: Meet the Characters

First up, since I had two books to give away I decided to split them, so using a random number generator, the winner of the signed copy of Dearly, Departed is: Shanella! And the winner of Across the Universe (unsigned) is Saavylistener! I'll be sure to get your books out to you. Hopefully in the future I'll have more signed books to offer.

Today also kicks off the Casting Call bloghop where we get to visually introduce our characters. I did a group image of the main characters of my last novel, so here goes:

I wanted to have a colored, finished piece but I lacked the time, so if I do get around to it this week I'll post it. (UPDATE: Managed to get the coloring done, I thought it'd be cool to have them all wear the same color, so I chose shades of red.)

I don't want to give away too much info on my characters, but I will say that we have one human, one witch, and two demons. And here are some other vague facts:
  • One of them discovers something about them that irrevocably links them to another one.
  • One of them betrays another in a big way.
  • One of them makes an ultimate sacrifice to save another.
  • One of them is definitely not what they seem in a major way.

Maybe you can figure out who is who =) Looking forward to seeing everyone else's character visions.

  1. Awesome pic! I think the shorter girl is the witch, the two demons are the girl on the left and the guy on the right, and the human is the guy in the middle. Am I close? lol. :)

  2. Ooh. mysterious. Is it intentional that the two guys seem to be looking at the tall girl on the left? (Is she blonde? She looks blonde. Sigh.) I bet she's not who she seems...

  3. Oo, I love it! Your art style rocks. It has that comic/manga feel to it. It's fantastic! :)

I think it's awesome that you went the cryptic route, facts-wise. It makes me want to find out more. Thanks for participating!

P.S. Hah! Cassie and I guessed the same. ;)

  4. I, too, would guess that the guy in the middle is the human--there's just something human about him. :P I'd say the girl on the left is the witch, though, and the two on the right are the demons.

    Intriguing facts!

  5. @ Melodie, yup it is intentional that they are both looking at her!

So far no one quite has it right as to who is who human/demon/witch/ wise =)

  6. Nice drawing. Puts my efforts to shame :) I love how you can capture the essence of a person in so few lines. That is a rare skill.

  7. Ditto the above, I wish I could draw too. Sounds like you have a great story started here.

  8. Love the picture. I'm going to say there's a human guy, a demon girl as well as the guy. That leaves the witch. I'm assuming this is a YA. I'm interested in knowing more depth about the plot. Oh, and congrats to the winners. :)

  9. Hmmm....very, very interesting. A witch and two demons--I want to read it! I stared at the pic for a long time, but, uh, yeah, I've got nothing. lol!

    Great drawing--I'm totally impressed!

  10. Thanks everyone!

Laila - it's actually adult, not YA, but I can understand thinking YA from the picture it's not easy to differentiate adult from teenager when drawing in this style lol
